About
David Burton MA
David has over 30 years of professional furniture conservation and restoration experience. He gained an HND (distinction) in furniture studies, then graduated from West Dean College with a Graduate Diploma and a Postgraduate Diploma (distinction) in furniture and related objects conservation.
He also holds a master's degree in conservation studies, has lectured at West Dean college and spent 10 years as the principal furniture conservator at Arundel Castle. For several years he was a consultant for the National Maritime Museum; now his clients include large country houses, museums and galleries as well as a large number of private collectors.

Conservation or restoration?
Every object is unique, as is its use and context, so every treatment proposal is fully discussed with the owner and approved in advance.
We are committed to the guiding principles and standards of object conservation: careful condition assessment, stabilisation and cleaning, through to repair and sensitive restoration, respecting the integrity of our cultural heritage.
All work is recorded, and can be fully documented if required. Preventive conservation is also offered, including collection surveys, advice on storage and transport, and proper display and environmental conditions.
